A video shared online by Nigerian man residing in Philippines showered praises to the government of Philippines for their kind gesture to its citizens and residents of the country as they undergo mandatory lockdown to combat COVID-19.

The Nigerian man said he was woken up this morning by government officials who gave him food items which includes, a bag of rice, noodles, canned food and some other items as part of governments gesture to help reduce the negative financial effects the lockdown order would have on its residents.

He wondered that if he who isn't a citizen was given such gifts, what then would be given to citizens, and even marveled that the government officials exchanged phone numbers with him, so he can contact them should in case he needs any assistance.
To confirm the authenticity of the video, our correspondent called a well known Nigerian businessman resident in Philippines, Lionel Odogwu Walters, he said it's true and in addition to that the Philippines government also sent him a form to fill, after which he will receive 8,000 peso (roughly ₦60,000) as financial aid from the Philippines government.

He scolded the Federal government of Nigeria for been too quick to follow other nations to lockdown the country without making any necessary provisions for citizens while they observe the lockdown order.

Mr. Walters went on to condemn the police/army brutality been meted against citizens by the Nigerian security agencies, he called on the Federal government of Nigeria to call the security agencies to order as this is not the time to cause pain and sorrow to the common man.

He then called on Nigerian government to try and offer food items and financial aids to citizens which would go a long way to help them.

If Philippines a country with no natural resources could offer help to citizens and residents, what stops the Nigeria government from assisting its citizens, he queried
