IN-HOUSE BETRAYAL: How Biafran Politicians Are Accomplices Of Silence Amidst The Agony Of The East

May 8, 2025.

EASTERN PILOT Reporter: Biafra FirstSon

The South East is in agony, but those who were voted to protect her dignity are doing nothing. They remain silent, complicit, and shamefully in absentia. Citizens live sieged by criminals and different state armed forces, leading to the height of insecurity in the region like fire sweeps through dry grassland. And pathetically, these so-called leaders — the politicians of the region remain court jesters in Abuja’s great palace of betrayal.

Where are they? They are hiding behind the walls of cowardly silence, assuming that business can go on normally whereas there is blood staining Igboland's earth. This their silence have fed insecurity, the monster.
This is why state-engineered insecurity in South East has risen over the years; from a crisis to a humanitarian crisis. "Unknown gunmen," political gangs, kidnappers, and wayward security agents molest the population, leading to the daily burial of innocent Easterners. Yet, not the least of justice is served. But these politicians of Biafran extraction are busy pursuing government appointments and stroking their delicate egos on TV. Rather than organizing emergency meetings, establishing regional security units, and confronting the ineffective federal methods publicly, they drink champagne at seminars and release wretched press statements that everyone ignores.

These politicians have cowardly allowed themselves to be playing grounds on which the Fulani oligarchs play with the collective interests of the South East for decades. Now they have, to their shame, become the pawn. But still, they are so hoodwinked and can not do anything.

Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, an exceptional son of Biafra was illegally arrested, tortured, and detained against local and international law. His freedom has been ordered by courts of law and the United Nations Human Rights Council working group on arbitrary detention, but is yet caged — a political prisoner in a country that professedly operates democracy.

What have these politicians done? Nothing of substance. They talk of “dialogue” and “political solutions” in vague generalities to avoid offending their Abuja masters. They invoke Kanu’s name in furtherance of their political maneuvers but leave him in the lurch when action is called for. They forget that if Kanu and his millions of dedicated supporters get crushed with impunity, none of them is safe. Today, it is Kanu. Tomorrow, it may be any of them.

Enough of This Treason!

Diplomatic timidity is over. The people of the South East do not require the type of politician who kowtows to authority; the region require warriors who defend justice. Biafran political actors either should rise up and struggle for the land and its people — or remain eternally branded as betrayers who traded their birthright for morsels of political power.

History is watching and posterity is recording, and the South East will never forgive those who watched passively whilst it was burning.

Let the people call for action, and call for it NOW!
