Report: More Revelations Of The Atrocities By The Nigerian Police Force, Other Sister Security Agencies

By A Concerned Igbo Citizen

Nov. 15, 2024 | EASTERN PILOT

Of a truth, the Nigerian police force and other uniformed personnel in Nigeria are nothing but criminals.

Imagine a situation where police officers, whom the law entrusted the lives and properties of the people to protect, are now the ones taking the lives of those citizens. As Igbo adage would say, 'Nkita tara okpukpu anyawara ya n'olu'!, 'The proverbial dog that ate the bone that was kept in its custody'. There's no form of betrayal worse than this.

There was a video going viral in the Nigerian internet space recently, where a man was narrating the ordeals of youths corp members, who was robbed of 10 million naira by the Nigerian police force, in Bayelsa state. They just gave same treatment to my inlaw a few days ago.

My inlaw, alongside others, were arrested in Portharcourt, the Rivers state capital, when they were surrounded by the policemen, and were taken to the police station there in Portharcourt, then few days later, they were taken from Portharcourt to Akwa Ibom, and was detained there, then, from Akwa Ibom, they were also moved to Ughelli in Delta state, and from there to Anambra, and from Anambra, they were moved back to Portharcourt.

And one would wonder why they kept moving their victims in this manner. Yes, i will use that word 'victim' because these citizens are illegally abducted or kidnapped by these police officers, and so, are victims of a state sponsored criminals in police uniforms.

Meanwhile, their intentions of moving them from one state to another is nothing short of trying to make things difficult for the family members of those victims, who will be searching for their loved ones after they were gone missing.

Worst still is that they will seize all the handsets of their victims, making it extremely difficult for their loved ones to reach them on phone and ascertain what the problem was.

Moreover, if any of their victims was unable to have a phone number of their family members or friends off head in order to inform them of the situation, they will waste them and harvest their organs and sell for money.

This is the level of criminality in the Nigerian police force. Now tell me what's the difference between the Nigerian policemen and the kidnappers.

I was moved to write this piece in tandem with what that man testified in the trending video and to let the entire public know that those reports are truth to the letter!

Meanwhile, those lucky ones who happened to remember a phone number of a family member or a friend, after they were asked to make a phone call by the police, their lives will be spared, but their family members will have to pay through their noses in order to secure their release.

This happened to my inlaw who was just released yesterday being Saturday, October 9, 2024, after family and friends has contributed a whopping sum of 4.5 million naira, before securing his bail.

Remember that yesterday was Saturday, and you know what I mean. On normal process of bailing someone from detention, weekends, especially Saturdays and Sundays are out of the equation, because bail bonds doesn't happen on this day, except on a compelling situation that needs urgent medical attention, and this has to tell you how illegal this whole process that these men in uniforms are into.

Therefore, with all these atrocities happening under our nose, in a place called a country, where every sector is absolutely corrupt, including the judiciary system which is the last hope of a common man.

Now tell me how can someone convince me, the victims, and their family members to believe in that system ever again.

The corruption in the country has snowballed into a system where anything goes, so far as illegal money will be made in the end, at the expense of the innocent citizens.

This is now a norm among those who were entrusted to make, interprete and enforce the laws of the land, who has turned around to become the ones breaking those laws with a reckless abandon and in the worst form of impunity.

In any system, where those who swore an oath of office, and oath of service, to protect the lives of the citizens has become the ones taking away those lives, such system should not be allowed to continue.

In this scenarios, the reason for the agitation here and there in the country is not far fetched, and it is high time we stopped pretending that everything is fine, and come together, call for a referendum to determine who are still pleased to remain in the enforced union called 'The federal Republic of Nigeria' and who wants to opt out of the union, because, the system is now corrosive and dangerous to the lives of the citizens.
