Ohanaeze Election is illegal - Kanu

The leader of Indigenous People of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has frowned at the just concluded election of the apex Igbo socio-cultural group, Ohanaeze Ndi-Igbo, describing the exercise as illegal. The IPOB leader pointed out that not all Igbos voted and unanimously chose Chief George Obiozor as the new leader.
Bemoaning the slavishness of Ohanaeze, Kanu lamented that the group has lost touch with the objectives that birthed it. Ndi Igbo, Kanu mourned, has been balkanized and scattered all over the country through the midwifery of divide and rule, adding that has the group not lost focus, it’s primary mission would have been the unification of all Igbos severed and de-Igbonized in states like Rivers, Delta, Bayelsa, Akwa-Ibom, Cross River, Edo, and even Kogi and Benue.
Regretting that Igbos indigenous to the aforementioned states do not have the acknowledgement of Ohanaeze Ndi-Igbo, Kanu stated that it is the fundamental assignment of Ohanaeze to look out for them and their plights.
Kanu pointed out that while the indigenous Igbos in Kogi and Benue are tagged northerners, their kit and kin in the Igbo territory are nicknamed South-easterners. Such scenario, he added, is replicated in most places where Igbos are separated from their own people, and overtime they begin to have identity crisis, a situation that leads many of them to deny their Igbonness. Kanu also blamed this on age-long negligence of the larger Igbo family, a situation the so-called Ohanaeze leadership ought to arrest.
