Report By: John Owen Nwachukwu

Officers of the Nigerian Police have fired teargas at End SARS protesters in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja.
The policemen intercepted the protesters at the John Kennedy Street as they attempt to march through the back gate of the Presidential Villa.

The protesters, mostly the youths, are demanding a total scrapping of the Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS; an end to police brutality; reformation of the police; and an end to extra-judicial killings. The police officers, in an attempt to disperse the protesters gathered at Power House in Asokoro, fired teargas.

DAILY POST reported earlier that soldiers have taken over major streets and strategic points in the FCT. The police have also stationed its personnel in front of CBN headquarters with Armoured Personnel Carrier and water cannons ready. It was reported that Men of the Nigeria Police Force, NPF, on Friday teargassed peaceful protesters against the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, in Abuja.

The police teargassed the protesters in a bid to disperse them. Some of the protesters alleged that the police officers dispersed them while fully armed.

Videos showed the police officers were armed with guns and teargas canisters, pursuing the protesters while shooting teargas at them.

In the past few days, Nigerians across the country have been protesting against the illegality and unconstitutional activities of SARS operatives which is taged #ENDSARS.
