The Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, has ordered the distribution of palliative materials to vulnerable residents in all the 17 local government area (LGAs) in the state.
This was disclosed on Saturday by John Okiyi Kalu, the state’s Commissioner for Information.
According to the governor, the state’s inter-ministerial committee on COVID-19 pandemic would oversee the disbursements, which includes food, sanitizers and protective masks.
Furthermore, the government said that the channels of distribution shall be churches, traditional rulers, town unions, existing school feeding program structures and
geriatric care agencies.
The stay-at-home directive by government both at federal and state level, due to the covid-19 pandemic has forced many states and the federal government to offer palliatives.
