Tunji Braithwaite

Tunji Braithwaite, the man known for his great works in the formation and sustenance of Nigerian Advance Party (NAP) has passed on to glory. The lawyer to Obafemi Awolowo and human right activist died this morning, Monday, March 28, 2016.
Tunji was one of the few Nigerians who believed that the country could be salvaged through good sense and judgment, but military adventurers (who were agents of foreign powers that were intent on maintaining their neo-colonialist hold o the country) would not let them.
Tunji Braithwaite was born in 1933, into the large family of Reverend I. Braithwaite. The family contributed much to the socio-political, spiritual and economic development of Nigeria and Africa; starting as far back as the 1880s when the patriarch, I Braithwaite, led the first Anglican  Missionary Expedition that opened up the Ijebu Province of Western Nigeria to  the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
In 1894, patriarch built the first church in Epe, St. Michael’s, having accumulated a large congregation. St.Michael’s Epe is still in existence today and has been joined by a second Anglican church – the Reverend Braithwaite Memorial Anglican Church, Papa Epe.
